A brief update of the Burquest happening, past and future.
The High Holidays were a wonderful spiritual experience. We wish to thank Rabbi Lindsey bat-Joseph for leading us in prayer, reflection and community building. Many new members joined us via our High Holiday special that included an annual Burquest membership with the purchase of High Holiday tickets. This offer, limited to the 2018 High Holidays and now expired, was very well received.
We have had a few busy months with a number of programs starting up again after the summer break, these include parent and tots, the Singing Group, community kitchen. Our Shabbat Services are again twice a month, with a time change for Friday night services at 7 pm. Remember Yoga for seniors on Monday and Art classes with Rusart Monday night and don’t forget Mah Jong on Thursday. Make sure to check the monthly calendar for date, time and activities.
We had a wonderful evening with Boris Sideon and his one man band concert. We had a great response to our Challah Bake, evening with the most lovely and tasty challahs. In addition as with all other synagogues and community centers we held a Solidarity Shabbat in memory of the 11 murdered in Pittsburgh.
Our upcoming programs include a presentation and discussion evening with Frank Smyth, our Annul Chanukah/Winter Fair on November 25. Most exciting is our partnership with the Vancouver Jewish Film Festival in showing a number of Film Festival movies at the Port Moody, Inlet Theatre. And on Sunday December 2, there will be a Chanukah reception at 6pm, at the Inlet Theatre foyer, between the end of the matinee movie and the start of the evening movie. Light the first Candle with us.
Also make sure you register for our Burquest Family Chanukah, Boris Sideon will entertain, activities for the kids, mac and cheese, PJ Library. Please note we have limited space so register early.
We have had a great year and continue to growing from
“strength to strength”.
