Burquest Joins The Union for Reform Judaism
 
Saturday May 23rd, was a high point for The Burquest Jewish Community Centre, Congregation Sha’arei Mizrah (Gates of the East, aptly named by Rabbi Yosef Wosk as it is situated in the Eastern suburbs of Vancouver).  According to Census Canada, the community draws from 3000 Jewish people that we know of.  The celebration was the culmination of eight years of hard work and soul searching, preparation and organization to affiliate with the Reform movement. 

Looking for a few good Ambassadors!

What is an Ambassador? These people are members of our community who would love to hear from you. New to your area, looking to connect with other Jews in your area, then contact your Ambassador! Volunteer to be a point person for your geographical area! Contact Eran if you are interested at 604-552-9535.  The following areas need Ambassadors right away, do a Mitzvah and volunteer today!

HEBREW AND YIDDISH
SENIOR AND ADULT SINGING GROUP
 
Jewish Family Services in partnership with Burquest Jewish Community Association are pleased to announce a new program for Seniors and Adults.
 
Come and get together to have fun singing Hebrew and Yiddish songs.
Learn new songs, improve your memory, and participate in holiday performances and ritual services at Burquest.
 
The program is free and will be held twice a month on Tuesdays from 11am till 12:30pm at Burquest Jewish Community Centre

DROP-IN REFRESHER JUDAISM CLASS

Rabbi bat Joseph will be offering a drop-in refresher Judaism class at Burquest on Tuesday evenings at 7:30 pm during the month of July and August. Drop-in Fee: $10.00
 
Interested parties please drop by.  Interested Burquest Members encouraged to drop by to take advantage of the sessions to expand or re-enforce their Jewish Education.
