Hebrew school

Burquest's Hebrew school is the oldest "institution" within the organization, reflecting the high priority our members have always put on Jewish education. The school, designed for children in Grades K–7, meets from 9:30-12:00 on Sunday mornings.  Our school offers a full complement of experienced teachers and assistants, as well as a School Coordinator to assist in holiday events, resource material, and maintaining the library.

Children are divided into 3 Sunday classes: a Kita Aleph class (Grades 1-2) introduces crafts, songs, Jewish culture and rituals; Kita Bet (Grades 3 – 4) emphasizing beginning Hebrew language skills, life cycle events, holidays, and basic prayers; Kita Gimel (Grades 5–7) focuses on more advanced language skills, the meaning of prayer, life cycle events, and cultural and historical traditions. A multi-level Hebrew school class is offered mid-week at Burquest for children in Grades K-7 on Thursdays from 3:30 - 5:30 pm. We also offer a Burquest Preschool class for children aged 3-5 on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:15 to 11:15 am which focuses on preparing the children for entering Burquest Hebrew school.
