A few words from Bill Gruenthal :
Max and his wife Tennis were amongst the originators of Burquest - the reason being that they were seeking kids for establishing a school; they were trying to avoid having. to schlepp to Vancouver.
Max worked at various positions and, by coincidence, worked in Calgary with a firm which I insured, but I did not know him there.
He retired from the Post Office; his favourite phone call to me every year was to gloat over the fact that. as he worked for the Fed. Govt he was getting an indexed pension while I was in private industry and had no indexing.
Max was a great family man, a good friend and a real "do gooder”
He was born in Winnipeg in the North where most of the Jewish Community was. He had a degree from a university; was extremely well read - history being. his favorite - he could speak about. history of places everywhere.
We had the pleasure of meeting some 50 years ago when I was sitting on a bus on Hastings St. I was reading the Jerusalem Post - this gentleman sidled up to me and asked me whether I was a member of the Tribe! That cinched the deal - he and Tennis even got one of our pups which came along unexpectedly.
