Congregation Sha'arei Mizrah
Congregation Sha’arei Mizrah is the spiritual home within the Burquest Jewish Community Association. We offer Shabbat services led by Cantor Steve Levin, along with meaningful holiday celebrations that are central to the Burquest experience.
For the High Holy Days, we engage visiting rabbis to lead our Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services.
Throughout the year, our community comes together for a vibrant array of events, including our annual Sukkot brunch, Chanukah celebrations, lively Purim and Simchat Torah services, our community Passover Seder, and many more opportunities to connect and celebrate.
Shabbat Services

We hold Shabbat services twice a month (except in July and August) — typically one Friday evening and one Saturday morning, scheduled about two weeks apart.
Kabbalat Shabbat Fridays at 7:30 pm
A welcoming Friday evening service, followed by Kiddush and light refreshments.
Shabbat Morning Service Saturdays at 10:30 am
A traditional morning service, followed by Kiddush and a light dairy lunch.
Guests are welcome to bring a dairy or parve (vegetarian) dish or snack to share.
Several times a year, we host a potluck dinner before the Friday night Kabbalat Shabbat. These begin at 6:30 pm, followed by a slightly shorter service. Announcements are made in advance.
During the summer, we offer one service in July and one in August.
Please visit our Calendar to see upcoming service dates.
Our services feature beautiful music led by Cantor Steve Levin. Prayers are offered in English or Hebrew, and most songs are sung in Hebrew. English/Hebrew Siddurs with transliteration help everyone participate comfortably.

All our services are family-friendly and welcoming to all!
