Congregation Sha'arei Mizrah
Congregation Sha’arei Mizrah is the spiritual home within the Burquest Jewish Community Association. We are an independent, unaffiliated congregation, with opportunity for member contributions and participation.
We offer twice monthly Shabbat services led by Cantor Frani Goodman and community member Dave Medzon, along with meaningful holiday celebrations that are central to the Burquest experience.
Prayers are offered in English or Hebrew, and most songs are sung in Hebrew. Siddurs with transliteration help everyone participate comfortably.
Throughout the year, our community comes together for a vibrant array of events, including our annual Sukkot brunch, Chanukah celebrations, lively Purim and Simchat Torah services, our community Passover Seder, and many more opportunities to connect and celebrate.

Shabbat Services
We hold lively Shabbat services twice a month — typically the second Friday evening and fourth Saturday morning.
Kabbalat Shabbat: Fridays at 7:30 pm
A welcoming Friday evening service, followed by Kiddush and light refreshments.
Shabbat Morning Service: Saturdays at 10:30 am
A traditional morning service, followed by Kiddush and a light dairy lunch.
Guests are welcome to bring a dairy or parve (vegetarian) dish or snack to share.
Prayers are offered in English or Hebrew, and most songs are sung in Hebrew. English/Hebrew Siddurs with transliteration help everyone participate comfortably.
