For three decades, the Burquest Jewish Community Association has welcomed Jewish

families in Vancouver’s eastern suburbs to High Holiday services on the Days of Awe. This year we are pleased to welcome back Cantor Frani Goodman and community member Dave Medzon as principal leaders of our Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services.

Our community is warmly invited to join us for the Days of Awe.

What’s Included This Year

• Holiday potluck meals after services on both days of Rosh Hashanah • Outdoor Tashlich service and shofar blowing : Sun Sept 13 at 4:00 PM

• Yizkor remembrance service : Mon Sept 21 (~12:30 PM)

• Communal Break Fast after Yom Kippur

• Children’s activities on Rosh Hashanah Day 1 and Yom Kippur morning (pre‑registration) Service Leaders

Cantor Frani Goodman

Cantor Frani returns to lead our High Holiday services. A Vancouver native and graduate of the Jewish Theological Seminary (NY, 2014), she teaches across the Lower Mainland and has led services in the US and Sweden. She looks forward to raising our voices together in sacred song for a sweet new year.

Dave Medzon

Dave is a long‑time Burquest member and ritual committee member. He has co‑led High Holiday services with Cantor Frani, Rabbi Laura Duhan Kaplan, and Charles Kaplan. Dave teaches music in the public school system, and we are happy to have him back this year.
